🛠️ Troubleshooting Common DTF Problems

Problem: Transfer Won’t Stick

Possible causes:

  • Insufficient heat or pressure
  • Moisture in the fabric
  • Uneven heat distribution

Solution: Verify that your heat press reaches 302°F and delivers even pressure. Pre-press the garment to remove moisture.

Problem: Design Lifts During Peeling

Possible causes:

  • Film was not peeled while hot
  • Insufficient pressure
  • Incomplete adhesive bonding

Solution: Lay the carrier film back down, repress as appropriate, and carefully peel while hot.

Problem: Transfer Peels After Washing

Possible causes:

  • Inadequate initial pressing
  • Washing too soon
  • Excessive dryer heat

Solution: Follow the pressing instructions, perform the recommended finishing press, and wait at least 24 hours before washing unless otherwise specified by the supplier.

Problem: Design Cracks or Fades

Possible causes:

  • Excessive heat
  • Improper washing
  • Incomplete adhesive bonding

Solution: Wash inside out using cold water, avoid bleach, and air dry whenever possible.

Problem: Design Has Bubbles or Wrinkles

Possible causes:

  • Moisture in the garment
  • Uneven pressure
  • Wrinkled fabric

Solution: Pre-press the garment, smooth the fabric, and ensure the transfer lies flat before pressing.

Problem: Polyester Fabric Discolors

Possible causes:

  • Heat sensitivity
  • Dye migration
  • Excessive pressing

Solution: Test the garment before production. Some polyester garments may require specialty low-temperature transfers.
